I’m not sure if this is a clue to how other moviegoers will react to “The Way of Water”, or if it’s a manifestation of my own willful ignorance of everything to do with “Avatar.”
The first “Avatar” shot in native 3D was supposed to be the blockbuster that changed everything by making movies more immersive and interactive, and for a while it started a muddy wave of converted 3D movies. People likened it to a theme park ride like Martin Scorsese did.
